About Deskilo
One Mac. A few better starting points.
Deskilo is a native macOS Scene switcher. A Scene can bring forward the apps you need, change the desktop around them, and give that setup its own shortcut — then restore the state Deskilo changed when you leave.
What a Scene can do
- Keep selected apps visible while the Scene is active.
- Open selected apps when a Scene starts.
- Use a Scene-specific desktop color, gradient, or image.
- Hide or preserve Finder desktop items without moving or deleting them.
- Switch Scenes from Deskilo, the menu bar, or a custom hotkey.
Restore is part of the design
Deskilo snapshots the state it is about to change. Leaving a Scene restores the app and desktop state that Deskilo changed, instead of treating each Scene as a permanent rearrangement of your Mac.
Switching from one Scene to another follows the same rule: Deskilo restores the first Scene before entering the next one.
Instant Cover
Instant Cover gives you a ready-made work surface immediately while your apps remain underneath. A Scene can switch while the cover stays visible, and you choose when to reveal the result.
Built-in cover styles use generic work surfaces rather than replicas of third-party apps.
Built for the Mac
Deskilo is a native macOS utility with a menu bar presence, system-level shortcuts, App Sandbox support, and a UI designed around compact Scene editing rather than a large dashboard.
Free and Pro
The current release plan includes a free experience with one Scene and a Deskilo Pro lifetime upgrade for additional capabilities. Deskilo Pro is planned as a one-time App Store purchase rather than a subscription.
Final App Store availability and localized pricing will come from Apple's storefront when Deskilo is released.
A small app on purpose
Deskilo is meant to stay out of the way. It does not try to become a window manager, a launcher, or a productivity dashboard. The product is centered on one idea: save a useful desktop setup as a Scene, enter it quickly, and leave cleanly.
